How are we different?
Our cremation boxes have bands that are bent from cherry, walnut, oak, and birds eye maple.   The tops of our cremation boxes are formed from birds eye maple, cherry, flame maple, walnut, quilted maple, and carpathian elm burl to name the favored woods.   If you would like a cremation box with the top and / or bottom of a favored wood in your possesion; then you are not alone.   This is something we do with increasing frequency.   Give us a call at 423-239-5103 so we can discuss your needs.

We craft different size cremation boxes, milk paint upon request, and change wood combinations.   However most of these are customized boxes and can only be ordered by phone or mail. They also require a six to eight week lead time.

Our Shaker cremain boxes are made in the traditional manner. Each item is individually crafted and no two are ever exactly alike. The swallowtails are held together with copper tacks made on a machine that was making tacks over 100 years ago. Our finishing process is described in our article Shaker Wood Finishes. What is included in the price?
All pricing includes shipping and handling within the Continental United States by USPS carrier.   Your purchase includes one graphic and up to ten additional words if desired.   A package of brass screws and a tube of super glue are provided for box closure.  If requested starter screw holes will be predrilled on the back of the box to aid in the box closure.   And finaly if time allows additional one to three coats of lacquer will be applied to your cremation or memorial box.   Tennessee residents will be charged state and local sales tax upon checkout.

What size box do I need to buy?
Cremation urns are sold on the basis of volume in cubic inches.   As a general rule of thumb for every pound that the deceased weighed, their cremation remains will be one cubic inch in volume.   There are nominally five size classes for urns:
Companion urns range from 400 cubic inches to 600 cubic inches in volume.   They are designed for couples wishing to remain together or for large individuals.
Adult urns range from 200 to 235 cubic inches in volume.   The vast majority of adults will fit in urns of this size.
Portion urns range from 50 to 100 cubic inches in volume.   These urns are used when multiple family members desire a portion of the deceased cremated remains.
Infant urns range from 21 to 50 cubic inches in volume.   Infant and Portion urns have some overlap in volumes and most urns can be used for either purpose.
Keepsake urns range from 1 to 14 cubic inches in volume.   They are used when family members desire only a small amount of ashes.
